Lamar plays in a run-heavy offense. It’s the system they are in. Everyone doubts Lamar because he won MVP so early in his career. We need to give him the same treatment as young QBs because he learns from his mistakes and learns how to win.
If Lamar Jackson were in Kliff Kingsbury’s offense, he would be much better than Kyler. Kyler can throw the ball 30-40+ times and use his legs when a play breaks down. Lamar is more accurate and is a run-first quarterback; he has to throw; he makes big plays all the time.
Kyler Murray is learning what it takes to win. He is losing games for the Cardinals that he should’ve won easily. They are both young QBs that are good throwers and use their legs when they need to. The fact that Lamar Jackson has more designed running plays does not make him a worse QB. It’s just the system they run in Baltimore.
Kyler Murray has a career 66% competition percentage. Lamar Jackson has a 63.6% competition percentage. Kyler Murray’s career QBRTG is 91.0, whereas Lamar Jackson has a career QBRTG of 101.0. Lamar Jackson is a better thrower and a better runner than Kyler Murray. That means he is a better quarterback as of right now.
Kingsbury is the reason Kyler Murray has been “successful”. Lamar Jackson is the more accomplished QB because he already has an MVP award in his trophy case.
Put Kyler or Lamar on the Bills and they would both be better than Josh Allen.
Mahomes was able to make an easy transition because of the endless weapons he has on offense.
A young QB should not be judged on wins and losses because that has a lot to do with what team drafts you. There are so many more advanced statistics available that should be used to compare young quarterbacks production level in the NFL.
Kyler, Lamar, and Mahomes are taking over the NFL and redefining the QB position. It’s time for sports critics start to redefine the QB position too.
