Lakers WILL repeat as the NBA champions this year!
Lakers vs Nets is what we all want to see and what we most likely will see.
However, the Lakers got better and the Clippers got worse. Lakers additions include, Marc Gasol, Montrezl Harrell, Wesley Matthews, Dennis Schroder and Alfonso McKinnie. They lost, Avery Bradley, Danny Green, Dwight Howard, JaVale McGee, Rajon Rondo, JR Smith, and Dion Waiters. They got much better and their bench and depth has improved tremendously which will help them beat the Clippers when it matters the most.
Clippers additions include, Nicholas Batum, Serge Ibaka and Luke Kennard. The Clippers lost Montrezl Harrell, JaMychal Green, and Rodney McGruder. Montrezl Harrell was a key loss to the Clippers and they spent money this offseason in resigning Paul George which I believe was a mistake. They are doing whatever Kawahi wants and they aren’t accounting for the fact that he might go to the Lakers once his 2 years are done with the Lakers.
The Nets somehow improved from their 2019 offseason by adding Landry Shamet and Jeff Green. They are the team to beat in the east and my way too early prediction for the NBA Finals is Nets vs Lakers. The Lakers are +270 to win and the Nets are +600 to win. The safest bet is riding the Lakers before it is too late.
The Heat will only be a contender if they are able to get James Harden. I am sleeping on the Nuggets because they are no threat to the Lakers. The Bucks will not be a threat unless Giannas gets another star! The Mavs are a threat especially with the addition of Josh Richardson.
Post NBA LeBron will be interesting, but it will continue to be his league until he retires.
My sleeper NBA finals pick would have to be the Phoenix Suns. They are the only team that is capable of beating the Lakers from the west in a 7 game series. They are +6000 to win the finals. They added Jae Crowder and Chris Paul to a young team. Chris Paul is one of the best point guards of our generation and he is the vocal leader that the Suns desperately needed. The Suns also went 8-0 in the bubble and failed to make the playoffs, they will be playing with something to prove and Chris Paul’s veteran leadership will help them get over the hump. I cannot see them beating the Lakers, hence why it is a sleeper prediction.
