The 2007 Florida Gators Men’s basketball team had the number 1 recruiting class in the nation. Where are they all now?

The 2007 Florida Gators had one 5-star, four 4-star, and zero 3-star recruits. This number one recruiting class was the class following the historic 2006-2007 National Championship.

5-Star recruits:

Nick Calathes PG Winter Park, Florida. 8th ranked national, 3rd best point guard, 1st best in the state of Florida. Played 2 seasons for the Gators (2007-2009). 2nd round pick in 2009 NBA Draft (45th overall) by the Memphis Grizzlies. Played 2 years for the Memphis Grizzlies. Started in 7 games, averaged 4.6 ppg, 1.9 rpg, and 2.7 apg. Currently plays overseas for FC Barcelona in Spain.

4-Star recruits:

Chandler Parsons SF Winter Park, Florida. 29th ranked national, 6th best small forward, 3rd best in the state of Florida. Played 4 seasons for the Gators (2007-2011). 2nd round pick in 2011 NBA Draft (38th overall) by the Houston Rockets. Played 9 seasons in the NBA (3 with the Rockets, 2 with the Mavericks, 3 with the Grizzlies, and 1 with the Hawks). Started in 369 games, averaged 12.7 ppg, 4.5 rpg, and 2.7 apg. Currently rehabbing from being hit by a drunk driver, his basketball career is likely over.

Jai Lucas PG Bellaire, Texas. 33rd ranked national, 7th best point guard, 3rd best in the state of Texas. Played 1 season for the Gators (2007-2008), and 2 seasons for Texas (2009-2011). Never drafted in NBA, played 2 seasons in the G-League. Currently an assistant basketball coach at the University of Kentucky.

Alex Tyus PF Cincinnati, Ohio. 57th ranked national, 16th best power forward, 3rd best in the state of Ohio. Played 4 seasons for the Gators (2007-2011). Never drafted in NBA, played overseas his entire career (mainly in Israel). Currently plays overseas for Real Madrid in Spain.

Adam Allen SF Milton, Florida. 133rd ranked national, 32nd best small forward, 8th best in the state of Florida. Played 2 seasons for the Gators (2007-2008 & 2010-2011), and 2 seasons for Rollins College (2012-2014). After having 3 knee surgeries at Florida his return to basketball at Rollins College was miraculous. He was never drafted in the NBA.

Injuries and unfortunate events ended the careers of 2 of the players from the top ranked 2007 recruiting class. The other 3 never became NBA stars and are either playing overseas now or coaching.
